TASK01: FIGURE DRAWING: CHARACTER

Description 

Using pencil drawing as media, students tasked to create figure drawing and body proportion for womenswear and menswear. In this task, students are required to illustrate figure and body proportion and translate into their own character of illustration. Students are required to create the illustration with the exploration of the figure pose, body proportion, face and details. Using magazine as reference, students will choose any model as the subject matter and starting to create figure for each category to complete the task.

During the class Mr.Riza introduced us to 6 different sketching techniques that can be used when doing the first assignment which are hatching, cross-hatching, stippling, circling, scribbling, and lastly, shading & blending.

Here's another sketch that I did during the first week of class. Mr Riza wanted us to try to draw something as quickly as possible as a warm-up to see our sketching ability without spending so much time on it.




Assignment 1

For the assignment, our task is to look for 10 fashion images which are 5 womenswear and 5 men wear and Mr. Riza will choose the best 3 looks from men and women for us to recreate by using the nine head figure technique and here are the image references including the results:






















Reflection

I personally enjoy doing the assignment as it is my personal preference to draw using pencil only. This is because I don't have to think about choosing colors at all and I all have to think about is the way I control my hand's pressure to achieve the right contrast.
