Design Development Part 2
This is the concept board. the concept is to do something that is quite elegant but in a bold manner if that makes sense. I also want to bring a sense of punk energy within the collection and that will lead to the kind of silhouette and color which I'm gonna show you the sketch that I did after this. the most important aspects that I use when coming out with concept ideas are elegant, bold, empower and little bit of punk inspired to achieve a stronger outcome.
I'm still carrying on with the same concept as the first design development but this time around I'm gonna show you something that's inspired by traditional clothing which is kebaya because as mentioned I also wanted to try to do some design development on traditional clothing but still sticking with the same concept.
As mentioned, the main concept is to do something that's inspired by the alternative subcultures like punk and goth but make it look quit elegant and fearless at the same time. The reason why I chose kebaya is because during my second meeting with the local designers (Fiziwoo) suggested me to explore more fabrics, so, I was thinking of lace and kebaya just popped up in my head right away because I also was adviced by miss maria to do traditional clothing. In my opinion, I just think kebaya will do its justice to play the gothic and punk vibes that I want because even in the gothic style most of the dresses have floral lace fabric.
The concept of the collection is to do something that is inspired by the alternative subcultures like punk and goth but in an elegant manner to represent something that's empowered and bold in order to achieve a stronger impact when represanting a Malaysian culture. These are innvovated versions of kebaya that was carefully picked by the student and lectures. Kebaya was chosen because it has a strong appearance that can do its justice to play the punk and gothic energy.
The Tekat Embroidery was originally designed to match with the main concept as well as to achieve an authentic outcome but still sticking with one of the main characteristics of Tekat which is simplicity.
Feedback
This is the second time and the last time I had a meeting with Fiziwoo. After showing them the development of my design from last week's progress, they were actually quite satisfied with my new progress for this round. they didn't ask me to change anything but they are only looking forward to seeing the outcomes. Since there weren't many changes to make, that means I already can proceed to choose the final three looks with my lecturers.
Reflection
During the second meeting, I already know what I should do next as my ideas have been approved by them and there wasn't really any amendment to do. This is the stage where I felt kind of nervous because it's time for the execution and I was hoping everything will go smoothly.
