PROJECT 2A: DIGITAL IMAGING EXERCISES (10%)

Timeframe: WEEK 3 - WEEK 7

PROJECT 2A - DIGITAL IMAGING EXERCISE 1 (5%) Photo Manipulation (Hearst Mansion)

This is the first exercise that I have to do. SO, I just followed the tutorial that Mr. Fauzi shared with us in google classroom.

These are the two images that I have to work with. Basically, I just have to do as if Shazam is standing by the pool.

This is the final result after following the tutorial:

After that, I have to continue doing the exact same thing but using my own picture.

1. This is the picture I'm going to use. It's a picture of my friend @aimeechoong wearing my garment for my final presentation

2. That's where I'm going to locate her

3. Adding shadows and a reflection

Final Outcome

PROJECT 2B - DIGITAL IMAGING EXERCISE 2 (5%) Recoloring Black & White

Exercise 1

For the exercise, I just have to turn the B&W image below into a colored image. Keep scrolling down to see the whole process:

1. Selecting an area that I want to change the color using the 'quick selection tool'

2. Edit the selected area by double-clicking the layer mask to access the mask

3. I use these setting to smooth out the edges

4. Changing the color after the areas is selected

Basically, Just do the same thing for any part of the picture that you wish to change the color

The Process of changing the eye color

This is what it looks like after I've done changing the skin and hair colors.

PROJECT 2C: CONCEPTUAL PRODUCT PHOTOSHOOT

Timeframe: WEEK 9 - WEEK 11

CATEGORY: PRODUCT PHOTOSHOOT

RESEARCH: 10 marks (WEEK 9)

SHOOTING TECHNIQUES: 5 marks

LIGHTING TECHNIQUES: 5 marks

EDITING & POST PRODUCTION: 10 marks (WEEK 10)

PART 1: Reference/ Moodboard (WEEK 9)

"Here are some inspirations that I found on Pinterest. I know since the beginning that I wanted to do something with water and use these images as my references."

2. Write a summary about your idea

I’m planning to do something with water. I really like the idea of combining a nature view like the inside of the ocean, forest, or mountains with everyday objects and that is basically my general idea that I had instantly. So, for the artwork, I wanted to find something like a glass tea cup or a wine glass but I couldn’t find it anywhere in my apartment so that’s why I decided to work with a bulb that I randomly found as it is the only transparent object that would work the best. The main idea is to do a person holding a bulb that is filled with water and fish - so it’s going to look like a “portable fish tank”.

3. Sketches

This is a sketch that I came up with. I just imagine myself holding the bulb that's filled with water and fish

The Chosen Object

"I don't have any pictures of the behind the scene because I just took these images with my phone in my room so the lighting is not that good. "

PART 3: Mock up (WEEK 10)

#Progress 1

"I didn't have much progress at this point cause I spent so much time on looking for the perfect water I could use. It was kind of hard to find the right one"

#Progress 2

"almost done at this point. I just have to adjust the brightness and contrast of the picture so the image looks clearer"

Final Outcome

Description

The artwork is called “My Portable Fish Tank”. Since I’m working with a bulb, I got a random idea to turn it into a mini fish tank as there is a transparent space that I could use to do it. My childhood memory inspires this artwork as I used to have a mini fish tank in my bedroom that my friend gifted as a birthday present.

Reflection

"This is definitely one of my favorite projects to do. I am quite happy with how it turned out because I was kind of worried at first as it was really hard for me to find any water images from google that are suitable for the bulb but I managed to find them after spending so many hours. Overall, I think this was such a simple idea but interesting."
